    454432 WC 45 Colt Loads

I cast up some of the 454432 NOE that weigh out at 268ish grains. I'm having a problem finding load data for this weight. Can I use 260gr data or 300gr data and what should I expect for speeds each way? I've got HP-38, 2400 and Trail Boss. I was hoping to use HP-38. Got any loads?

I would use the data listed for 45 Colt (Revolver) , RCBS #452-270-SAA ,
the 270 gr. data will be very close .

    W231 / HP-38 powder :

    starting load of - 5.3 grs. @ 699 fps
    maximum load of - 6.7 grs. @ 817 fps

This data is for standard revolver loads .
I like your choice of boolit design , give us a range report on accuracy .
That design in 38 cal. and 41 cal . has proven very accurate in my revolvers and the flat nose hits hard and cuts clean holes .
I have 38 special , 357 magnum and 41 magnum revolvers , all of them like this design .

Thanks Gary for the info. I too have the same boolit in 358 and 412. Just cast the 41 and 45 today. Love it 358 to the point I can use this design solely for revolvers.

I load the Lyman 454309 for my Navy Arms Schofield with 10 grains of HS6 with no issues. Looking at WW 231 load data I would say you be safe using 6 grains for a start with HP-38.

I can't find this bullet on the N.O.E website.
Was it a Group Buy ?
My Dad was a Great fan of the #454309. Wish I could find a 2cav mold.

I'm pretty sure that AggiePharmD transposed the "3" and the "2". It should read 454423. That boolit was originally designed by Elmer Keith for the .45 Auto Rim cartridge.

Years ago, we had a Mihec group buy for this boolit so he may still list it on his website.

Treetop no transposition of digits. This was a natural caliber extension of an NOE GB of their 360-160 Type III WC off the original LYMAN 358432 wadcutter. NOE ran the 360 and then did one in 41, 44 and 45. I'm no good with posting pics but here is a link to NOE's 454-264 WC

I don't think Lyman ever made it in any caliber but 358 but I may be wrong.
