A few months back, I had traded my 45/70 Harrington &Wesson Buffalo rifle off, had been sick of doing that, because to tell the truth it would shoot with any single shot rifle I have. I had a primo 96 Swedish Mauser, with a curly French walnut military stock. I offered to trade it, for the H&R and a new Henry 45/70 with outstanding walnut on it. I knew the guy would not keep either one of them much longer, so I offered to trade him one for two. The swede was easily worth $800 or so, due to all matching numbers, and had not been issued, was mint in every way, with only one or two handling dings on it. I made the offer, Thursday on the phone, and he called me this morning and said deal. He had been wanting the 6.5 for a long time. The Henry was still in the box, unfired. When I got home, I cleaned the barrel of grease, and folded out my shooting bench in my carport. I got a handful of 350gr cast loads with 15 gr of Unique behind it. Off a bench at 130 yds, I picked out a leaf on the steep bank of my pasture field, snuggled in behind the rifle on the sandbags, and shot. It was dead center, about 6" high. I shot a second time, just made the divit in the ground deeper. The Third shot landed right on top of the first 2, 3 in a hole the size of a snuff can. I believe it will be real close, to dead on with 405gr cast, maybe a couple of inches high. I used some KY elevation, and hit the small leaf on the top half of it with the 4th shot. The 5th shot hit about a inch and a half above the 4th. Not bad for a old fat man, nearing 58 and still don't need glasses. This Henry had about a 4.5# trigger, still has the glitch, which I will rectify shortly, by polishing the trigger and parts, leave the original springs in it. This is my 4th Henry and every one has had the same trigger, give or take a #, and all shot good with open sights. The scoped 2 rifles I have shoot under 3/4" at 100yds. I must just be lucky, but I have had nothing but good results with the Henrys and this one may be my best looking one yet, I can send pics if someone can post them for me.
