I don't have one of each case to measure. I've seen drawings where they're identical except for the rim, and been mildly chastised for saying I was pretty sure they were the same capacity by somebody who assured me they were not. I'm still pretty sure..

I'd be interested in learning more about the 300-grain pill in either cartridge. Wouldn't have expected 1,100 fps, but this is a pretty sturdy platform and a longer barrel than most .45's get.

Sheer curiosity; is it a load worked up with a slower powder? Just stuffed with as much powder as can be packed in?

    Slower powders - yes.

Stuffed with as much powder as can be packed in - NO!!!

If I want power, I'll pull out the 460 Weatherby Magnum.

With barrel liners, I NEVER load max loads. Accurate and mild loads only.

My other post with the short heavy barrel chambered in 45 Auto Rim, 45 acp and 45 Super is the one I shoot 300 gr. bullets in.

If you would like a handful of 45 Auto Rim cases, send me a PM and I'll send you some.

I've never found one single 45AR picking up brass at the range.. if I had I'd have ended up with a new-to-me revolver. Best you hang on to them, it'll save me the funds! I kid, a lot, and should've thrown a in there about the stuffed caseful. Never comes through in text as planned. Really appreciate you sharing the projects, they're inspiring.

I bought 10,000 pieces of 45 Auto Rim from Starline, and sooner or later I will have either a .17 caliber, .204, .22 or 6mm that will be based off a maximized 45 Auto Rim case. I already have the bushing dies made for each caliber, as well as bullet seating dies. I just need to find the time to make the form dies and get started on it. Maybe one of these days if I can really justify the "need" for one.

I built a 30-45AR several years ago, and while accurate and fun to shoot, it was ballisticaly identical to the 300 Blackout, and the rimmed version in 30-357 and 30-360.

That is some really cool things you did and are doing there. I actually like it. You are having a lot of fun there trying out different things to see what happens.

The fun went away when the doctors found a cancer spot on my wife's spine, L-3, so until she is taken care of first and gets healed from it, nothing else matters!

Yeah, you gotta take care of the ones you love first. Prayers for her.

    Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

I have always believed that since cancer is not from God, it does not belong in the human body, and if a man cannot pray his wife through cancer, then he is not much of a man!

Sorry to hear of your wife’s news. Please take care and let us know if there is anything we can do.

Robert and Baltimoreed - thank you, I appreciate it!

Next week will be a LOT of blood tests, bone marrow testing, bone density testing, full body scans/imaging, therapist, oncologists, and a lot more stuff that I cannot even think of right now!

    No cancer!

The marble size tumor on my wife's spine is benign and is NOT cancer! There is a light fracture on the opposite side of the tumor, but no one seems to know what either is caused from.

The fracture will heal and the tumor, at least for now, will be nothing more than a marble size "spot" that will show up on x-rays.

For you guys that were good enough to offer prayers for my wife - Thank You!

Time to get back in the shop and go to work.

It just needs to warm up for a couple of weeks now so we can go CARP fishing!

I just couldn't leave well enough alone!

Shotgun barrel was 31 1/2" in length and is now 22" long with the permanently installed 19 1/2" 45 AR / .45 Auto rifle barrel. Now, it handles more like a rifle than a shotgun!

So far, I have tested the following bullets at 50 yards -

    Hornady 230 gr. XTP

    Speer 230 gr. Gold Dot

    Speer 260 gr. Mag-JHP

    Hornady 250 gr. XTP

    Hornady 225 gr. XTP

ALL BULLETS will keep bullet holes touching with the same exact load, with the only change made being that of the bullet used!

The bullet on the far left is a 300 gr. .458 caliber rifle bullet that has been sized down to .452 diameter.
I reckon I was raised under a tub, but I would never ever have thought of it being considered suppressed. Now that is a bright and shiny new idea to me.

One of the many things I like about this site, is the engineering done by some on here. I'm just an Arkansas shade tree mechanic with a few files, but some of y'all really raise the bar. Interesting as all get out. My compliments to you Assassin!
