    6.5 "K " Belted Magnum

any one heard of this case. A friend Of mine sent me a Set Of dies . Dies marked 6.5 K Mag. No manufacturer . Claims he has a rifle
    It is a belted Case.
I checked On the CH4D site . and there is one listed. I spoke to Denny there and his prints show It's not Belted. but these dies show a Belt
    any one have info.

Just a wild guess, but maybe it is a wildcat based off the 224 ,240 or 257 weatherby.

I'm going to have a guess at it too. Maybe the K is for Kurtz. Short 6.5 round made on a belted Mag case. I have a set of loading dies that are stamped 27 A.W.S.M.. They were made by RCBS. When I called them they said they had no idea what it was. Their best guess was that it was a custom, ordered set of dies and that they don't keep information on custom made dies. It turned out to be a 250 Savage case opened up to take a .270 bullet with no other changes.

I think a few weeks back some guy from down under on one of these threads was taking about his Sav 99 in a 27/250 wildcat. I've never heard of it, sounds cool.

I have been playing with this for a week . It is a short magnum and based off a 300 H&H base or win mag case. I am going to Try a Casting to get Better Results

Could the K be an R, or is it clearly a K?

Sounds Like a 6.5 Rem Mag, cases can be made from 7mm Rem Mag cases, PM me if you want more info, I have a 6.5 Rem Mag and make my cases from 7. mm Mag cases and can run you through all the steps, tooling and part numbers you will need.

There was a 6.5x61 based off of one of the Sharpe & Hart cases, I think. There was an article in one of the recent Rifle magazines on it.

I'll see if I can dig it up tonight.

6.5 Remington Mag; one of the two original Short Magnums. I liked the one I had, flat and accurate. Mine had a 26” barrel and it delivered on velocity, too.
