    Cz 557

We bought my son a CZ 557 in .308 Win for his 13th birthday. I installed a new Leupold Freedom 3-9x scope using Warne rings. If you've never seen the CZ 557 (I hadn't until I picked it up), I can tell you it's nice. The new Freedom scopes are a bargain with very clear glass. You'll notice in the attached picture that my son is left-handed, we love him as if he were a normal child.

I loaded up some RCBS 311-180-FN bullets using 16 grains of 2400. We had the rifle sighted in about 7 shots. He didn't seriously shoot it for groups, but it looks like it keeps them under 2 inches at 100 yards. The shooting he does with it is hitting a small steel target at a little over 100 yards away off a bench. I haven't shot it much myself, but he does very well.

The 557 went to a push feed. But any CZ is a bargain for a walnut (most centerfires) and blued steel receiver. Hammer-forged barrels. Maybe you can tell I'm a fan?!? Thank you for raising the next generation of hunters in the right way, with an heirloom rifle that he can pass down to his kids someday.
