Rcbs LAM II

Had an original that stripped out the die lock ring threads and returned it to RCBS for repair and instead they sent me a LAM II as a replacement. Sturdy as all get out but refilling the reservoir is a real PITA compared to the older model (or Lyman 450). The reservoir cap is threaded and needs a 1 3/8 wrench to remove. In addition the die lock ring is 15/16, fortunately have several wrenches in my toolbox. Was hoping RCBS had a combo tool (ALA Lyman) that fit these nuts but can't find one on their web site. What are other forum members using for the LAM II?

I use an antique "Monkey Wrench" like the Ford Model T's had in their tool kit:

I had the same problem and looked out in my tool box that I took out of my grandmother's house when she moved in with my mother. And in the assortment of tools was one of these adjustable wrenches designed to turn the flat sides of nuts and bolt heads. They are about 9" long and can open up to almost 2". I keep two of them on my reloading bench.

Plenty of wrenches will fit. Just relax a little.

Refilling comes in two varieties:
1.) melted wax, poured in (don't overfill), and allowed to cool a bit before applying pressure
2.) hollow wax "tubes" designed/molded to fit that drop in, but may need a little "heat" before applying pressure.

Winelover, was thinking of those, had a set I left with my son when I moved. I already modified the sizer to use a ratchet wrench and a socket of that type would fit as I don't use the T- handle. When I asked the question was hoping some enterprising individual/company was making something on the order of the Lyman double ended wrench but apparently not. Looks like a trip to Lowe's is in my future.

I keep a pair of these in my loading room .
Don't confuse them with channel lock type pliers , they are an adjustable wrench and work great They have smooth jaws that stay parallel .

onelight, using similar set made by Irwin that are labeled Vice-Grip on the handles. Not sure where I got them but they work, was just wondering if there wasn't a better solution.

the Knipex are proving to be a good option for me we don't need to be able to apply a lot of torque for most of what we use wrenches at the bench for but we need to turn large nuts ,it's nice to not have to have a full sized set of wrenches at the bench . I have a set of smooth jaw channel lock pliers also and they are not near as good a tool for nuts as that Knipex. The search will continue .
I think a lot of us tend to be tool junkies anyway.

I use a large adjustable wrench works fine,actually once started I can remove the reservoir nut by hand.
