Cool Taffin’s Book of the .45 is astonishingly good!

It is available from Wolf publishing, $50 and worth every penny. The photos are fantastic and the text is on target. It is divided into rifle and pistol sections. I barely got 15 pages into the pistol section before I ordered another copy for a good friend.
As an aside, I got into the section on S&W .45 revolvers, of which I have 3, a M1917, a M1955 Target (both in .45 ACP / .45 Auto Rim) and a M25-5 .45 Colt, picked up at various times over the years. I wondered what S&W offers these days. Looked at Smith-Wesson.com. As the kids would say these days, OMG! I counted 485 products! To be fair, they were differing by small variations, such as barrel length, type of sight, safety/no safety, etcetera.
"You will wantonly strike a hornet's nest which extends from mountains to ocean, and legions, now quiet, will swarm out and sting us to death. It is unnecessary; it puts us in the wrong; it is fatal." Robert Toombs, Democrat of Georgia, warning of the results of the imminent attack of the Confederacy upon Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, 1861

Thanks for the review of the book.

I only count 17 45 caliber revolvers at the S&W site. Still a lot though.

That book has been out since before Christmas.
And it is an excellent book for any .45 fans. I had one on my Christmas list,, but nobody got it. (My wife tried,, but she had issues navigating the Wolff site.) So, on Christmas day,, with her blessing & credit card,, I ordered my copy. It only took a couple of weeks.

That book has been a long time coming,, and many of us have been patiently waiting on it. If you have any desires, likes etc for the .45's,, then it's a MUST HAVE!

I ordered my copy before Christmas, and was astonished to receive it in less than two weeks time! I agree with all kudos on above posts, and -- if I were much younger -- might even order and buy a 2nd copy? Why? Try and find a copy of John Taffin's Book of the .44 for anywhere less than one hundred plus dollars! As they only print "x" numbers of similar books, as years pass on -- they become quite scarce and marketable.
Back to this one -- I ever so agree it was/is worth the money!

I ordered mine at the SHOT Show in January, and it arrived a couple of weeks later. I haven't had time to even take off the shrink wrap yet, but I will.

I've never read or looked at that one but, another great one is, Dean A Grennell's Book of the .45. My uncle had a copy of Grennell's. He said it must have saved him hundreds of dollars over the years. I'm gonna keep my eye out for one of Taffin's.

Does Taffin address the new Standard Manufacturing single action in this latest edition?

Not only is the book great it made a great backdrop for showing off the holly grips on my Lipseys 45 Colt. The book and the grips arrived the same day.

I just received the book last week. Beautiful photography. Unfortunately my book is missing pages 177 to 207, and has the forward and a few pages from the 1st chapter duplicated at the back of the book. Now I am going to have to fight with the publisher to get a corrected copy.

I have this same gun, and I've always been curious about holly grips (stocks). If you don't mind sharing, where did those come from? Thanks!
