A ? on Ruger MKIII and MKIV standard 22 pistols

I have decided to dust off my MKIII blued Target pistol (heavy barrel) that I "parked" during the 22 shortage. I have also been looking at videos of Ruger's new MKIV standard pistols - always wanted one with the shorter barrel and I like what they have done with the ease of take down on their new MKIV design. I have looked at Ruger site and can't seem to find an answer to a question. Will the magazines form a Ruger standard design MKIII work in their new MKIV standard designs? Or are the magazines a different design all to themselves for the MKIVs?

    Thanks.

I believe MK III mags will work in the Mk IV.

Midway sells 'em, and they offer one that fits both, and one specifically for the MkIV-- it has a big floor plate that the old style doesn't.

Your older MKIII mags should work in the MKIV

The big base on the new mag, may not let it fit in far enough to latch in a MKIII

even though they fit you might have to switch which side the magazine thumb slide is on. the thumb slide fits into a groove in the grip and not all models have the slide groove on the same side. Its easy to do and there are instructions given on the package.

I think the only mags with the button on the right side are the early MKIs. But I could be mistaken.

Sorry was not referring to the mag release but to the cartridge follower button.

The MkI and II's had the magazine release on the bottom of the grip frame.

Only after the 22/45 grip frames had the magazine release on the side of the grip frame where most other semiauto pistols have them (or in the general area right under the trigger guard) did Ruger go with the release in that area for the Mk pistols.
