Hot 350 rem mag, Mihec 200gr, and pigs..... ;-)

Ok, first off, you dont need the hardest bullet in the world if you powdercoat. This Mihec 200gr 358 dia was cast with range scrap tested at 12br, using the hollowpoint pin, gaschecked, powdercoated, and waterdropped from the mold and after coating. I used 59gr of 4895, seated to the end of the front lube groove, this yeilds 2750fps in my 24" barrel(I plan to cut to 18") and gives me a 2" group at 95 yards. This is the first load I tried in this cartridge, and Im completely satisfied, dont really plan on changing anything. Pig was taken at dusk, trotting across the field at 82 paces, my lead hold was the snout, it was an off hand shot. Permanent cavity right behind the entrance wound, and exit wound easily would have held a red bull can. No pieces recovered, blood loss was tremendous, perhaps 2 liters, pig dropped immediately, final agonal respiration was as I approached. This is a great bullet, but Im still probably going to mix in some wheel weights, perhaps 50/50.

Hammer time! You’re gonna make me actually pull my group buy hollowpoint 200 grain mold out and start cast it out for my 35 Whelen pump carbine. My plan is to push it at faster speeds like your doing. I’m going to use 50/50 , pure and COWW with a little pewter. Around 10.5 BH along with PC and a GC.

I use 7.5BH alloy at 1600 FPS with sub MOA accuracy out of my 77/44 at 100 yards. pC and GC of course. I’ve pushed it all the way to max loads with no leading but accuracy fell off.

You don't need the hardest bullet in the world if you don't powder coat either. Read around on this forum, there are a lot of guys doing just as well hunting with cast and traditional lube, it ain't that difficult.

I’ve pushed it all the way to max loads with no leading but accuracy fell off. Major reason for harder alloy - accuracy at HV. With a slower load and your leade, probably would have had gut shot. Guessing you hit bone that busted the artery to the head. Good shot left lots of meat. Back spine shots ruin the backstrap.

Yes it does. Same basic formula (soft bullet @1800ish FPS) works in the .358 Winchester too.

A 220g @ 1850 carries almost 1700 FPE!! More than the 300 BO, many Grendel and 357/41/44 mag calibers.

Spot on while not stellar it’s substantial for close to medium ranges on med sized game!!!

I have never killed a hog before but I now have one in the area that is tearing up my yard and I want to kill it.
I will be using my .357 mag Henry with a 158 grain bullet.
Where should I be aiming if the hog is standing still.

I have read just in front of the shoulder, the neck, head....?

Spine is a line between front and rear shoulders. not 'elbows'. Will ruin backstraps though. Below the ear to just behind the front shoulder will usually break something. Spine in neck is mid top to bottom. You want to break something! Ribs and gut don't count.

That is a big bear load ! Minus striking a heavy bone... But it sure got the job done ! I am also a fan of 50/50 AC. but then I have never cranked a PC slug up to 2750 ! We run our 375 HH's at 2200 (long barreled Browning hits 2250) with 275-300 FNGC and so far no critter has walked away.
And what powder coat you using Tex ?

WW necked up 308 cases, WLR
43 gr 3031/
Seat out to mag length :Lyman 358318 cast of 9+1 COWW/Lino, 250 gr Paper Patched.
Clocks 2340fps across my Oehler 33. Always, one shot one kill
Great for shoulder shots. Thru and Thru.
Deer drops on the spot.
Can "eat up to 3" of the bullet hole"
