Get some good sun blocker before you shoot it much. I never loaded for one but I shot my 240SWC / GC with 21.5gr 2400 ( for my SBH ) Muzzel flash tremendous. I traded a mint 28 for mine, bad trade.

Nice! I love unfluted cylinders! That would make for a great bear gun up in these parts.

Nice revolver ... congrats! Betcha she will be a ton o fun.

What is the weight of this jewel? My Ruger GP 100 44 spcl is just bout perfect but I always wondered about the 629 for the 6 shot instead of my 5 shooter.

I used to shoot Keith's load of 22.0 grains of 2400 from a 6" 6 29. I've since learned I'm much less of a man than Elmer, I now shoot around 10.0 grains of Unique and the gun and I are much happier. Nice gun, BTW.

Yep,, me too, but, truth be told, it wasn't often. My standard load now is Skelton's justifiably famous .44 Special prescription: any good 240 gr LSWC backed by 7.5 gr of Unique for 950 fps from a 4" tube. With your 3" bbl., it's a load I'd be interested in and should be comfortable for long range sessions in that gun.

Conversely, Keith's old 22 grain load of 2400 would produce what could only be called "Heroic" recoil in a short bbl'd .44 Magnum...not my cupa tea anymore. All that BS notwithstanding, you've got a great carry piece for back country use or even more populous areas. And BTW, those Pachmayr stocks should go a long way in mitigating the recoil for any load you might choose.

Nice find...hope you enjoy it. I'd be interested in how it works out for you on the range...please let us know! Looks to me like it would be considerably easier to shoot than say a Smith "Mountain Gun" in the same caliber.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find a scale that will weigh it.
