Reloder 21 - Old Timer's Load Memory Question?

I recently inherited a few Lbs. of Reloder 21 powder in sealed, undamaged square cans. It appears that Reloder 21 was discontinued in or about 1972; so, I've not been able to get decent loading or burn rate information on it. I'm planning to shoot .30-06 Springfield -- 140 to 170 Gr. and 300-WSM -- 140 to 180 Gr bullets with it. A response from any old-timers out there with a good load-data memory or decent older reference books would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob Carney

An old burn rate chart shows that RL21 has a burn rate similar to that of H380. A quick google search didn't turn up any load data for 30-06, but it appears that the Speer Reloading Manual #8 includes some data for RL21. If you can get your hands on that book it might be worth your while getting it.

Is this for cast or jacketed bullets? I'm having a hard time finding anything above RX7 for cast in the 30-06

I don't remember Re21 being a slow burner. So the starting load for the 220 gr jacketed bullet is where I would begin with your weight range of CB's. Try one or two before loading a batch. For my memories sake- what color are the odd kernels?

With the Reloder series of powder don't use the number to determine whether it is slow or fast burning. Use the chart as shown from Dimner. Many of the Reloder series powder recently available have a lower number but are slower burning.You're not going to find new info on it as it's at least 30 years old.

I've not used Re 21 but a gunshop had 6 cans of it when there was a powder shortage. It piqued my interest, but I didn't purchase it, had enough rifle powder at the time.

The WSM cartridges were introduced about 30 years after RX 21 was discontinued, doubt there's any data

The .300 H&H has close to the .300 WSM case capacity if you can extrapolate the data, assuming double checking everything.
