    "Ball" mold handles?

    Howdy,
What does it mean when someone recommends getting "Ball handles" to use for mold blocks?
    And why does this matter?
    (Keep it clean now!)
    Thanks, Andy

I've been casting for more than 60 years and I have no idea what you are referring to.

Well, I guess i'm a beginning caster with just 52 years casting experience but I've never heard of "Ball handles" either so I will also be curious to see what follows as well!

never heard that term in over 60 years of casting alloy. i use lee large handles for all my molds, most of which are custom.

A ball handle is usually used on a reloading press ... could it be a case of mistaken tool identity ?

well some ball molds had a close screw hole not centered so they did not close tight --old stuff 1800-early 1900---most had the handles made to the mold-
you can cut about 1/4 in off of a lee and file the inside about 1/8in to make them work
but all new molds i know were drilled new center

The all metal cap and ball moulds did need wooden handles , usually home made and attached with screws , if you wanted to cast with them without too much burning hand/finger burning .

Which mould blocks are we talking about ?
