Well, that damaged case would make for a fine dummy round. The basic case, is there such a thing as a 30-30 Maximum?

    40-30 !

303 basic would be nice but it needs to be 9.3x74 to cover all the lengths of that rim/head family . It's nice 410 too .

No but there is a .35-30-30. IE .30-30 rebored and chambered by JES. Everyone I have heard of has been a shooter.

30/30 basic = 38/55, circa 1880, a lengthened 38/50. Thank you John Marlin, manufacturer of Ballard rifles.
Your case is just stamped wrong!

I don’t want to rat out anyone after the good I got from all manufacturers.
    It is about 40-30.
    Here a better pic,

I don't think you could make a true 40-30 out of 30-30 Basic as the case walls would have to be paper thin even if using 0.401" bullets. The stated base diameter of a 30-30 is 0.421" and most factory cases are really around 0.415"+. Looked at this a couple of times and the only way I could see doing it was to use 303 Brit cases or maybe 303 Savage (which are way too expensive). If you want a 40 caliber case in 30-30 length just cut down 405 Win cases so loaded OAL is around 2.55" (for a lever gun).

Bought some bagged 30-30 brass one time, didn't have the flash hole drilled/punched.

I have one and it is a GREAT shooter. BTW - Back in the late 70's early 80's they used to make 30/30 American cases with small primers.

Same external dimensions with stronger/thicker case walls, slightly shorter than 38-55, is the 375 Winchester.
It easily employs a 30-30 basic case to emulate 38-55 loads when proper 375 brass isn’t needed, or available.
