What I did to my Hornady LNL

No more powder measure wiggling loose
bumping brass with my bump die was not consistant
had to keep checking different dies if they started to turn out of the bushing
all this I could not concentrate on my powder checker
so I changed all the Hornady bushing for screw in Redding bushing used on regular press

    Hi...
I have had an occasional issue with my powder measures getting loose on my LnLs.
If it becomes more of an issue, I will steal this modification.
    Thanks for the idea.

Channel locks on the powder measure bushing takes care of any problem on mine. I like the bushing system but it can be frustrating until you get used to them

    Now that's a great tip!

Original LNL bushings with O rings turn quality dies into Lees... my biggest grief about LNL which I've been using on and off for 15 years.

    Thank you!

On my LNL AP, I got bigger diameter o-rings for it right from the beginning. Ive never had any of the dies or powder charge come loose. Ive seen videos of powder charges come loose before.

Um.. hornady will give you some shims if you ask.. Seems like it defeats the purpose.

I have tried shims and its works yes but has I said resizing to speck is not consistent
and for me gaining a few minutes to change dies is not important
I have been using this conversion and love it so much that Hornady should offer this model beside their LNL bushing system
or redesign their bushing, its nice of them to give shim that is admitting there is a design flaw

I just use larger o-rings 84,904 rounds with really no problems.

I agree but look each time you resize you still see movement up and down of the die
and that movement while bumping the brass with my Redding body die I always get a few .000 difference from case to case
each mouvement of this bushing squeezing the rubber o ring will eventually compress it out of roundness and you will have differences
If I was loading pistol I would not mind but that powder measure wiggling loose gave me fit......

Got to be something out of spec with yours. Only things I ever had to shim with mine were PM and Dillon trimmer. That’s too bad. I would have sent it back to Hornady.

well it seems that there is a lot of owners that there press is out of spec
a lot of them needs shim
if you google trouble with LNL press you will find a lot of issues concerning bushing

I only load pistol on both of mine. If I load rifle I use a single stage.

I'm in a different situation. I use 12 different seating dies and 7 powder measures, so using the bushing is a must.

I get it you must have a lot of rifle or one and a lot of different bullet
