Great stuff. I weep for the poor dead Watermelons!

cool vid.crazy that a watermelon could change the direction of the projectile
Interesting how the tanks projectile was so unstable in flight.

No wonder the Sherman had such a poor kill ratio. To penetrate a tigers armor the shell had to strike dead on. Any variation caused a ricochet.
QUIS CUSTODIET IPSOS CUSTODES?
As one of a few who have fired a tank gun, 90mm M48-A3, 105mm M-60 and M-48-A5 and M1IP I can say until you have done so everything else only compares to a 22 RF.
The feeling of power, especially with the lazer range finder and superior optics of the M-1's that allows you to reach out and touch someone two miles away is beyond words.
Regarding the muzzle flash and blast, firing the M48A3 and being in the drivers seat with the hatch open, well my eyeballs felt like they were rolling backwards. Hearing loss is rapid and permanent.
Inside the tank there is no sound, just the noise of the vehicle jolting back.
Ken
Ken, you need to try a 155 mm or 8 inch artillery piece!

Pressman, I've felt that front slope rise on an M60A1 and A3 a few times. Always Ready!
Cool video, thanks for posting that!!! The deflection of the artillery shell shows what happens when a little rifle bullet hits a twig!!! Only much more awesomely!!!

I wonder if the bore may be a little worn after 70 years . It looks like the yaw would stabilize after about 500 yards.
