Savage 19 H question

I have searched the usual places, rimfire central, 24 hr, etc.

I’m trying to determine the original bore diameter and twist rate for this old girl in 22 Hornet.

Anybody know more about it?

Most info I find is for the 22LR 19, 23 and NRA.

I kept searching on the web and for the slow 1 in 16 twist 45 grs is the limit. The exception seems to be the original Lee Bator. It’s a soupcan and the length of the boolit is as import as the weight. I’ll have to try some.

Any favorite loads for the hornet?

I'd also suspect a 1in16 twist rate, and given the time when these were made, I'd also strongly suspect that the bore diameter is .223 rather than the later .224 standard.

They were 1-16" ROT, so stick with stubby cast bullets. As for bore dimensions, don't sweat that. Size to throat diameter and call it a day. (Consider an "M" die for same too.)

Thanks for the advice, I will do that. I've been using the NOE expanders which is the same as the M die. I just didn't know for sure about the 22LR bore (223) and how much it matters..

Just to follow up, it is 1 - 16” twist and .223 bore ( 22 LR).
