    Anyone recognize this style lead?

Stopped by the local salvage yard today, picked up 75 lbs of lead. Some of it was in small channel form, maybe 1/4-3/16" wide and very soft....only snagged around 8-10 lbs of it, anyone recognize what it may have been for?

That's kind of what I figured, but wasn't sure. Would it be considered pretty close to "pure" lead?

I'd say more like REAL close to pure Lead, and that's counting the oxide/tarnish and maybe some dirt.

    Lead came for stained glass.
Often pure or lead. Got scraps from an artist once.

I use that stained glass window lead all the time. Have a local artist I get it from about once a year. It's as close to pure lead as you can get, or at least as I can get.

There is also zinc came, so you might want to hit it with some muriatic acid before melting it with other lead.

Indoor stained glass is soldered into came made of almost pure lead.
Came for exterior stained glass has a layer of zinc on one side. If you cut the came with a box cutter you can actually see (perhaps using a magnifying glass) the layer of zinc.

For some reason in the stained glass window trade the lead channels are called "Lead Came"
Came ???? have no idea why it's called that but comes in many sizes and forms and is usually nearly pure lead , must be soft to make curves .

My wealth of totally useless information is astounding !
