Ugly pistol I didn't think it possible but...

I didn't think it was possible to make a pistol more ugly than the Nosler single shot but, sadly, Remington as succeeded, in a very convincing way. The 700 CP is so ugly that even it's mother couldn't love it. Oh well, as the saying goes, it's all in the eye of the beholder but I believe one would have to be totally blind to see any beauty in this abomination.

I am beginning to think the gun companies are trying to outdo each other in an attempt to make the least attractive gun possible, much like the "forensic" TV shows for a while were trying to see who could show the most gruesome scenes.

I will challenge the "ugliest pistol" nomination with my SSP-91! I have one in .223 and a 7mm-08.

I'd always thought the 'Liberator pistol', single shot .45ACP
that was made & dropped to underground forces in Europe during WWII
was the ugliest, but those beat it like a rented mule.

They were made by Saginaw Steering gear division of GM, and cost the govt. about $1.50 each.
Now they sell for over $1,000.

Box magazine and vented hand guard, really?????? I would not even look at it in fear the shop owner might give it to me! And I liked the XP100s!

In today's market, anything that looks "tactical" will sell. In a purely functional sense, the gun will perform well for long range handgun enthusiasts.

Needs more rail! How do they expect you to fit your flashlight, laser, bayonet, etc on that little bit of rail?

I think its fine. Appears a spin off of the 700 action so we will have a pistol numbered action for long range pistol projects saving a lot of fiddling round. Betting it wont take treebone, boyds or others to have a wood wood laminate stock for it to be fit into. No trigger linkage like the XP 100. If there is a barrel nut under the hand guard (ala savage) even better

I have three Remington XP 100R's (.223, 260 Rem. and 35 Rem.). I would trade them for these in a heart beat. The M-lock hand guard makes a lot of sense not only for bipods but the various types of tripods. My .223 has killed thousands of prairie dogs out to 350 yards. It has a Burris 3-12 scope and it easily holds 3/4 MOA at 300 yards. If I purchased pistols based on looks I would own a bunch of Pythons. Through the years I have had 3 but I don't miss them in the least. So much for looks.

That looks like a cheaper version of the Competitor pistol. I really liked these styles of guns. They actually felt like a handgun, not like these Remington abominations.
