Today I helped with a garage clan-out and came across 2 cans of Johnsons Paste Wax. I did a quick search and read one post about using it as a tumble lube, seems ok for 38 special under 800fps. Does anyone have any experience using this as an ingredient in lube?
It's one of the main ingredients of 45/45/10. I have also used it to lube paper patched cast boolits. Check out this thread:

the paste wax is still sold in stores, its the liquid that has been discontinued and is much sought after

I had good results with JPW at 1800 fps in the 30-06. Gas checked, of course.
I agree. I played with it and I ran it even faster than that. I have a slug of the paste. Seemed to work good for me. Nice lube all by itself.
I’ve used it in .45 ACP for years. Then when BLL came along it got relegated to the back of the shelf. Just got grins I PC’ed some rnfp for my old 30/30, then rolled them around in JPW boy did they shoot clean!! It has its place for sure.

I use it as an ingredient in my tumble lube. I pop the lid and then melt it gently (OUTDOORS, over ELECTRIC hotplate), then add a 4 oz. bottle of Lee Alox. Set it aside to cool and then put the lid on for storage. Works great on all my cast loads!

Lowes has jpw on their shelves. Don't remember the price but it seemed reasonable.
I use it at times as a tumble lube for my 30/30 a.i., my 30-06 a.i., some 9mm boolits if I just have about 25 or so to lube, and my .45acp when I had one. The rifle boolets are gas checked, the pistol boolits are plain based.
