My lead stock is covered with snow, but those spring days aren't far off. I'm looking forward to firing up the burner in a month or so and make a dent in some of those wheel weights. Anyone else got a session coming?

Yesterday I had 45* and sunshine. I casted twenty pounds of 400gns for my 45/70.
I have to get to it too. Here on the Left Coast it's warmer, but we're just getting past the rainy season, and of course I process outdoors. True that rain on top of the melt isn't a concern, but rain in the ingot molds certainly is.
Cooler is more comfortable for me, but I find I need wind breaks and more BTU's to keep things running smoothly. My pot, ladles and ingot molds like to run hot.
It's almost 80 and clear here today.
If I needed to melt Lead, it's good weather for it,
but I've been cleaning up the boat and running it some to limber it up for next week.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.
This ain't your Grandma's sewing circle.
EVERYONE!
Back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.
My goal is to get a 20 gal drum of range scrap melted down in the next couple of weeks.
My haul from Friday. The high was 45 degrees which is perfect for me when I’m standing over a propane burner and hot pot of metal all day.

I collected about 175lbs of range lead today. May smelt it tomorrow. In Arkansas we have a 50/50 chance of rain. Either it will or it won’t!
Doesn’t matter what the weatherman says. Lol.
Just knowing enough to do it, is not enough to do it right! -Taz
Me and a couple of members Biggin and Tazlaw smelted lead a week ago. We watched the weather but one day was cold enough to be a little uncomfortable. We spent parts of 2 days in the shop and melted our collections from last year. We had about 1200 ingots at the end. I should post some pictures but I struggle with the whole picture thing.
I smelted down the last of my friend’s private range lead on Saturday. He moved to New Mexico so going forward, I have to start buying all my lead. Very sad...
