Finally put 10 in the black (well sort of)

Those of you who have been following my recent threads about my newly acquired 27-2 know I have been frustrated with my inability to put 10 shots in the black 1 handed at 50 feet (our indoor range distance.) I can't tell you how many targets I've shot in the last month and a half with 9 in, and one little moon orbiting out in the white. It's totally me, not the gun.

Well yesterday I finally did it. Well, sort of.

Very 1st ******* shot, jerked it low. Then I put the next 9 right in there. Soooo, I figured screw it, I put 1 more round in the gun, squeezed really carefully and

As usual, disregard previous .22 holes. I'm green you know.

10 in the black! (out of 11)

I wish I could tell you how not to shoot the flyer. I also craved 10 in the black and had very many targets with 9 in the black and one flyer. I always seemed to pull at least one bad shot. I did do better when I stopped trying to force the shot. If I am not steady I just set the gun down and relax a bit.

The biggest thing is stop thinking about it, Dont dwell on it. You will subconsciously talk yourself into shooting the wide shot every time. Dont dwell on the bad shots but on the good shots. The mind is a powerful tool

I got VERY close tonight! Shot a practice National Match course, and on the slow fire the first nine were solidly in the black, and the 10th cut the black, which technically counts. I was more impressed with timed fire. I had my usual 9 in 1 just out, but considering they were in 5 shot strings in 20 seconds, I was real happy with that.

Excellent shooting! Are you shooting timed and rapid D.A.? Or single action?

    Lostsixgunner,

No, I shoot all three single action. There's enough time, but just enough! Timed is actually not an issue, but man you need to keep your cool in rapid, and don't panic. Easier said than done.

I actually experimented with shooting the rapid fire DA a few years ago. Even went so far as to replace the target triggers with smooth narrow triggers. I was very impressed (amazed might be better) at how well one could shoot 1 handed DA. But, I decided to concentrate on the SA approach. I found that going back and forth was very hard, so I picked one style and stuck with it.

    Lostsixgunner,

Incidentally, here are the timed and rapid targets from that practice NMC I shot
