Question--My toaster oven is set to 475 degs for use in heat treating and this temperature is verified by a thermometer When ever I'm done heat treating, I just pull the plug, thus not turning the thermostat. Can I powder coat at 475 degrees,? Will that melt the air soft bbs if I go that route?

Remy, no the bb's didn't melt - boy are they stuck after cooking ! Wonder if I'm infringing on the Cor-Bon (?) Power Point. haha

Shuz, yea I would say that's too hot. Below is a .45 cooked at about 425 or so for 20 min. Bottom drive ring slumped, not sure if visible in pic. Smoke says 375-400 deg is the sweet spot. Granted, temp is some what dependent on alloy.Click image for larger version.

Did you verify oven temp? I have never hada bullet slump, at 400 but 425 might be a bit too hot.

Fred, yea, after slump got a better oven therm - sacrificed my smoker therm. Read 425 and "might" have gone 25 min - got occupied, forgot to set alarm on phone.
Pretty sure I read Smoke likes ~385 for 20 min.

I've never changed the bb's in a few thousand boolets coated.
But, sure seems to be dependent on humidity !

I run 400deg for 15m in a preheated oven. Every batch has smash tested fine regardless of powder used.
