Just got a batch of wadcutters but no wadcutter seating plug. Tried using the existing hardware but it's deforming the bullets. 38/357, any make except Lee

if you don't need one of the ones you have fill it with jb weld and sand it flat so the metal shows evenly around the edge
Stuff any nose punch with Aluminum foil and press it in good. Worked fer me.
Good luck

My Dillon seating die has worked fine for me seating my wadcutters. Can’t recall which side I used but seemed to work fine on my HG#50s and looked/operated just as well as my Star die made for that particular mold.
My Dillon dies are the newer series (not sure when they changed but they are different design than my dads’ Dillon dies from the 90s.)
Hard cast double end wadcutters, or button nose hollow base wadcutters?
Got-R-Did.
I had drama once setting some crazy bullet once... I used JB Weld to make a custom seating stem I thoughly covered interior of die with neutral shoe polish. Acts as a release agent, kinda like bedding a scope rail on a rifle. Fill stem with JB Weld install die place a dummy round in the ram with problem child bullet coated with release agent and run ram up and screw die/bullet stem until lite contact. Worked great for me. The wadded aluminum will work to get some rounds loaded till you find a permanent solution.
On another note... problem I encountered some times was an expander going deep enough in a case to prevent lite swaging of softer alloys. In 357 PMC, Armscor would definitely swag some of my bullets. Remington brass usually didn't.

Look into the universal seating die from Mighty Armory. I have one and it has worked on every pistol bullet profile that I load.

Nope, that's a semi wqadcutter die but thanks for posting . . .
i thought you could reverse lee seating dies and give it a flat surface for wad cutters???
you can also fill the end of a seating stem with hot glue and press the bullet nose into it to mold it to a fit.

My luck day! Another member has offered to make me a seating stem and thanks to everyone who responded to my post.
I emailed RCBS and asked them for help before I posted on this forum and as of today they haven't responded to my e-mail. Good thing I am registered with this web site.
Over Christmas I also requested a wadcutter seating stem from RCBS. The eventually responded and said they would send 1 for free. I was happy but received another SWC stem. I then had the machinist at work modify it to work with button nose WC's.
