    Zinc slugs

Thought I’d give mining berms for lead a try. While I was moderately successful I wanted to remind folks about commercial zinc slugs; one marked with a Winchester W. Pictured are a couple I found.

Hmm. A few folks are casting with Zinc.
I didn't know they were being made commercially.

California lead free mandate, no doubt caused this.

I'm in Kali, and have a couple 5 gallon buckets of old range scrap. I figure, I hang onto them long enough, they'll be like old wheel weights - something to hoard and drool over ;^].

Has anyone here tried casting bullets from pure zinc?

I have tried casting with and did not get good fill out, it also sticks to Aluminium moulds unless well smoked. I was trying to make some super hard 458 cast. I wont try again unless some one with more brain can tell me how to get good results. Regards Stephen

Silly question, slugs as in 12ga? I’d like to cast some of the Lyman 525gn slugs for deer hunting. Wouldn’t need much as far as expansion (I don’t think anyway). If I started collecting WWs and used that for slug exclusively, would that work?
