That is a scant stock is for a US M1903/1903A3 and the ring on the receiver that secures the rear of the upper handguard, stamped swivels and upper band also. The front stock bolt hole has been hogged out to get clearance for the screw. Does the recoil lug on the receiver contact the recoil shoulder on the stock? Why they ground on the rear sight versus just removing it is puzzling, most are soldered on and can be removed by heating. Maybe Bubba didn't have a propane torch. In another post you asked about a problem with the safety and I have seen a few dozen 93/93 Mausers and don't remember a shiny bolt shroud or checkered safety, every time I look at the pic of those my brain keeps thinking Swede. Maybe I haven't seen enough of them, curious if some were like that.

The safety works fine now, and it says espanol on action, and yes the stock is not original?

Cocking piece/safety and probably bolt smells like a swede, like Rich/WIS says.

Not to be negative, however pics too blurry to pick up any more fine detail.
Is there a crown or 3 crowns stamped on the bottom of the bolt handle by the knob, or anywhere on the bolt, safety, or cocking piece?
