I love my early Ruger MK2. Out of the box, it tends to interlock bullet holes at 100 yards. (Even Ruger owners get lucky sometimes.) My favorite gunsmith and I agree that I only can justify owning a 22LR, a 22-250, a 6.5X55, and a 338WM. All my others are luxuries.

Hardly an odd ball. I have three of them a 1A Ruger No1, a Medium Sporter Ruger No1 and a Mossberg Walnut Patriot.
Kicks like a mule, but an awesome performer.
Mind you, I've never shot cast through them.

All the more reason to shoot cast in the 338W.

Even with jacketed bullet loads, using a lighter bullet and a slow burning powder will make the recoil slow enough for the shooter to roll with the punch if he keeps his back straight up and down. Leaning into the rifle is always uncomfortable.
I tried H4350 powder once, then moved on to H4831 and Alliant Reloader 22. A premium 225 gr bullet will kill anything in NA.
