Though I have a soft spot for the K-Bar I have to give the Buck the nod for better looking
I’ll take the k-bar hands down. I’ve had experience with both and you see my choice
Long, Wide, Deep, and Without Hesitation!
I prefer the Buck 119. Have tried many makers of this classic style, but the Buck is best in MYO.
Had a buck General i think it was called the blade broke in half pretty much the same thing only bigger as the 119 sent it back to Buck well turned out that they discontinued that knife so they sent me a better one one of there Survival knifes plus 2 of there 110 knives
So i can't knock them
kids that hunt and fish dont mug old ladies
The design of the Buck sheath is also very good.
I've never seen a kabar like that. Thanks for sharing. I am a buck fan, so that's the way I vote, without having experience with the aforementioned kabar.
Luckydawg, they really did you right.
I'm pretty sure that ka-bar is asian made (china/taiwan), not made in south/western NY, USA.
I would get a ka-bar that NY made, they look like the WW2 version.
The NY made ones are 1095 or D2 steel, NOT stainless and don't have the polished aluminum pommel knob like your picture.
The NY made ones have either a leather or kraton grip material, and straight edge or half serrated blades.
The actual kabar knife has a flaw, the blade is set forward compared to the center of the handle when viewed from the side. It don't look right. The case xx usmc knife is a fine piece of cutlery however.
The KaBar's I have is the USMC knife , I got one from the Marine store on base and the other one was from a Marine himself that fly on one of the helo's that was on my first ship.

Have a 119, don’t much care for it, hollow grind and too much tip up. Dang hard to get an edge on as well. So I would say Kabar, but truth is both are bigger than I have any use for in my world. 3 1/2 to 4 inches is plenty for my sheath knife needs.

The 119 has too much sweep at the tip for my taste too. I remedy this by regrinding the false edge. It shortens the tip about 1/8 but looks much better. I've done two I think.
The older ones were hard to sharpen and I don't care for them much. I prefer the newer 420 steel.
My favorite is the Buck 192

Look at the kabar with the 5 inch blade. looks just like the WW2 kabar that has a 7 inch blade but shrunk down a bit.
The Buck 119 is the most perfect Buck knife made to my eyes, simply beautiful.
Maker of Silver Boolits for Werewolf hunting
Had a 119 for maybe 40yrs, used it and like it.
The U.S. Navy issued Me a Camillus in 1971.
It's a lighter blade the the Kabar or Buck, same profile. Not as heavy.
Prefer it over Buck or Kabar, bought an old used Kabar in a Pawn Shop in '78, I guess a heavier design has it's uses.
Between My Kabar & Buck ? I'd prefer the Kabar, better grip. But then all three of My knives are American made.

I've had a buck since about 1969 I think the basic design goes back to WWII. Mine is still as good as the day I got it. I also have a slightly smaller and lighter hunting style knife made by CUTCO that's pretty nice.
