Have a Mossberg 5500 12 gauge that will occasionally not pick up the next shell and load it into the chamber. No rhyme or reason to when it happens and have tried multiple types of ammo. Has been taken down and thoroughly cleaned.

In the years I worked as a gunsmith, I cannot tell you how many Mossberg Auto shotguns I had in the shop, with the same problem, over 30 I can think off right off the bat in 8 years or less. I got to where I wouldn't sell them, since it pissed customers off, and most had to be sent back to the factory for repairs Not something you want to hear when turkey season opens in 2 days. Most of them I could not find out the problem, and sent them back, everytime they came back with a whole new trigger group, I know this because I made an identifying mark on them before putting them back in and shipping them to the factory. Obviously some parts or the housing was out of spec, or both.
