What you have created with the mix is a super oxidizer. Yes, you can use it very effectively in steel barrels, iron molds, casting pots, tools, etc. you just need to watch the progress closely as it will cause ferrous metals to rust. Stainless doesn't have that problem. Plugging a steel barrel and filling it with Kroil Oil and letting it sit overnight or whatever is a good alternative to clean steel barrels. The Kroil gets under the fouling and makes it easy to brush out.
