In praise of the Lyman 452630

I've always preferred a longer nose SWC for the .45 ACP. I have an H&G 68 four cavity but rarely use it. I've been using the RCBS 201 KT for a very long time. I've also got two and four cavity Lyman 452460 molds and can't remember the last time I used them.

The biggest problem was the RCBS only comes in a two cavity.

I picked up a used Lyman 452630 two cavity and fell in love with the bullet. Long nose, slight bevel base, and it shoots very well too.

A while back I picked up a NIB 1999 Lyman 452630 four cavity. Now I'm set, I have a long nosed SWC in a four cavity mold.

I cast and coated 43 lbs of these boolits this week.

I'm happier than a hog in tall corn.

Mould better displays length of nose than the cheesy pic to the right of mould pic.

@Wasalmonslayer hmmm.... this might be a good next GB. Does Miha already have in his arsenal?

I am looking for load data for 452630 using bullseye care to share? I Have 6.2 as a hot load that seems to me as dangerous.

I use 4.0-5.0 under 3 different 200 grain cast boolits and get excellent accuracy and function.
My most used is 4.1 grains. I like the light recoil and since I don't shoot beyond 25 yards, it works perfectly for me.
That 6.2 is somewhere up into the +P range.

I see this on Miha's website, he's calling it the same, but 1 vs 2 lube groove....

I guess he doesnt have a cherry for this one. If there is enough interest, I can put this together as a GB run?...

I use the same data as the 452460, or any other 200 gr SWC for that matter.

I'd be up for a group buy on this boolit. A six or eight cavity would be awesome!

Lately I've been running 3.6 gr Clays.
