    Lead core problem

    Hi

What wil happen if the wire lead have a mix of tin? Last lead roll I received dont conform well in the core forming die, the color is more "silvery" and do not oxidize as usual using white vinegar.

I suspect the tin in the lead is the culprit, but not sure about.

    Tin makes lead tough.

Sometimes your die will break. If your die is 7/8-14 be careful.

Try bonding the core while annealing the jacket.

    Hi guys

Clodhopper, I have Blackom and Ulrich dies too. Believe the Ulrich will not break, even with harder alloy.

Jdfoxinc, I´m using J4 jackets, so I dont anneal the jacket. But for 22 LR jackets that I will use for semi auto rifles, this may be a
    option.
    Thanks

Tin is much harder on dies than antimony. I would set that roll aside or try to trade with someone who casts, dies cost a lot more than replacement lead.

Lead has a known melting temperature.
Adding tin lowers the melting temperature.
Melt some of the suspect wire and check the temp.
