I went outhouse nuts last week trading and buying. Got S&W 25-3, (2) S&W 28-2s, S&W 586, Ruger SBH, Brn 1922 and Brn m71. Today on the prowl for a deal on a Colt 1911.

Not really one for shooting, but certainly an American icon. Best I can figure, based on the "REMINGTON ARMS CO, ILION NY" marking on the top rib it's a Third model, 2nd variation, made some time between 1888 and 1911. I don't know when or how it came to be in Letcher county in eastern Kentucky. Someone cared for it. It has been spared the ravages of black powder and corrosive primers. The hinges are not cracked, as they often are. The style of the partial box of Remington ammo came with it dates to early Thirties. Makes you wonder where the missing rounds went...into a stump or a chump? Half the fun of finding an old gun hidden in old furniture is wondering how it came to be there and what tales it could tell.
Thinkn’ real hard about this one...

Mould forth, and load in peace.
I let my daughter talk me out of my old Heritage Rough Rider. She was moving back to North Carolina and wanted something for home defense. I tried hard to talk he into a shotgun but no dice.
Well after a month of being without it and missing it. I got a notification that Buds Gun shop had got in a shipment of these revolvers with adjustable sight. Needless to say I jumped on it.
Have not made it to the range yet, been winter up here for the last week.
PS I intend to mostly shoot .22mag in it. Convertable is a cool idea but barrel that works for .22mag is too large for good accuracy in .22lr IMO.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

Tazman, just a heads up on the smith, there is a good read at www.gunblast.com/sw60_kitgun.htm
When I saw a long bbl J frame in .357mag the wallet came out.
Attachment 269987Ended up buying the Colt 1911 series 70 today. Now going to have to rustle up some mags and a decent pancake or some kind of hi ride for it. I have no murder weapons or rigs. If I had to shoot somebody it would have to get done with a S&W revolver that weights 3 pounds. This is going to be my carry piece. Not for sale or trade unless somebody comes down road with like Commander model.
uberti 1858 remington 45 long colt conversion. my sister bought it for me for my birthday. love the gun.
Nickle Colt Police Positive, 4 inch, has a few character marks and a bit of rust, but is mechanically solid as a rock. Made in 1960 by the serial number.

Well I let my daughter who was moving down to North Carolina talk me out of my old Heritage Rough Rider in .22lr/.22mag.
Took me 20 years to figure out that the gun vastly prefered .22mags and would shoot nice tight bottom of pop can groups at 20 feet. Well after 3 weeks of missing that gun, I got an email notification that BudsGunshop had the 6 5/8ths in barrel model with adjustable sights in stock. I did not waste any time. Cost 60$ more for the sights vs the notch in the frame plain jane model.
Well I made it to the range with it yesterday. First 5 bullets were all in the 2" stick on bull at 20 feet.
Next 5 I shot a little faster and a couple were just on the edge. And then I put the .22lr cylinder in and it did just as well as the .22mags.
So happy I am, I have a 6" barrel single action back in .22mag for whatever needs doing. Be it woods walking, camping, plinking or varmints. Quality control was excellent IMO for a 230$ pistol. And I see that buds is sold out of them already.

Got a Ruger Buckeye in 38/40 & 10mm. It came with a brass grip frame.
Snagged a RIA Ultra FS 1911 on gunbrokers. Previously owned several high end 1911’s but was always concerned about scratching them. Wanted a reliable and “inexpensive” 1911 that had decent sights and trigger. This one will ride in the boat or ATV or sit on a table in the garage until it’s needed. The slide is dovetailed so changing the front or rear sights should be easy.
East Tennessee
S&W M&P Shield 9--got it from a neighbor down the road for a steal.
I’ve got a Colt 1911 series 70 at FFL since Thursday. FBI check hasn’t made it yet, maybe today.
Gun is 1973 production. I didn’t steal it but paid reasonable price compared to shows and on line.
Just picked up a NIB 01911 WW1 reissue in Carbonia Blue with all boxes and accessories. What a nice gun!
