    450 Bushmaster Questions

    Greetings Gents,

    Hate to ask a j-word question here but I have no other options. I am looking for a H110 or W296 load for the 240 Grain XTP MAG.

    I have done a work-up and am getting about 2 inches at 40.5 grains of W296 with great combustion. But ragged hole accuracy at 35.8 grains with poor combustion and flames shooting out of the barrel.

    What do I do?

    Any loads work for you with the same components?

    Share ANY jacketed or cast 450 BM successes with me please.

    Sorry, no experience with either powder But I'm using Lil Gun in the 38-39 gr. range with good results.

    I switched to IMR 4227 for the same reason.

    Have you tried the AA#9?

    H110/296 worked OK. 4227 and 5744 where better accuracy. #9 really woke up mine!


    4198 & RL7 is more that could work (they do in 45/70 )

    Hornady 10th edition. 240 grain xtp mag. win 296 starting load 29.2 max 38.8. h110 starting load 30.6 max 40.6. I use the 250 grain ftx in a bushmaster upper 20 inch barrel, with 33 grains of lil gun. Its shoots very well, only powder i have tryed.
