WTS: Sights, Scope Bases, .22 Clip, More

    Item1
Browning Superposed Buttplate. This came off an old Belgian Over-Under, brought back from Europe by a GI after WWII. The plate measures 1-5/8" x 5-1/8" on the backside (against stock butt). Screw hole spacing is 3-1/4". Upper hole located 3/4" from top. A name was hand-written on the backside of the plastic plate, possibly the name of the gun- or stock-maker. The buttplate is still serviceable, though it has numerous chips and scratches. Price: $12.

    Item 2
Integral scope bases and rings. Each of the two bases has four holes, spaced to fit receiver hole spacing of 1/2”, 5/8”, or 7/8”. These were manufactured for the Savage Model 170 rifle, but would fit a variety of rifles having a slightly rounded or flat-top receiver. Includes screws. Hardware is heavy-gauge steel. Package never opened. Price: $20.

    Item 3
Original Remington .22 Clip. I believe this fit the old 513T, possibly other .22 rifles in the Remington 500 series that used clip magazines. Good shape, loads ten rounds OK, but I do not have a rifle to test feed function. Price: $30

    Item 4
Weaver Top Mount Base No. 62. New old stock. Original packaging, opened but never mounted on a rifle. With four screws. Weaver says this items fits CIL 871, Remington 740, 742, 760. Uses standard Weaver mounts. Price: $8.
    Attachment 255348

    Item 5
Weaver Pivot Mount Base, No. 162. Weaver packaging says for use on Remington 740, 742 and 760. Original packaging. Never mounted on a rifle, screws missing. These mounts look shaky, but I’ve never had one let me down in the field after repeated shooting. Requires Weaver pivot mounts. $7.
    Attachment 255349

    Item 6
Lyman 55 R .22 Receiver Sight. Looks like a miniature of the more common Lyman receiver sights for centerfire rifles, except there are no click adjustment knobs. To adjust elevation and windage, loosen screws and slide. According to the 1948 Shooter’s Bible, this sight fit a Remington Model 34. It appears to screw on to the aft end of the barrel. The two small mounting screws are present. Very nicely made and in good condition. $50.

    Item 7
From Dixie Gunworks, “Kentucky Rifle Target Sight, 5 inches long, will fit any octagonal barrel. Has elevating screw and windage set screw.” According to a member here, these were either drilled and screwed directly into the barrel, or into a dovetail blank. Has a very narrow and shallow sighting notch which could be deepened or widened with a needle file to suit the shooter’s preference. This unit is like new and obviously was never mounted on a rifle. Price: $25.

    Item 8
Globe Front Target Sight. Measures 1.5 inches long and takes round disks about 5/8” diameter. This is not marked with a maker’s name, and it does not look like any of the hooded sights made years back by either Lyman, Redfield or Vaver. It mounts with a 3/8” dovetail which could be drifted either directly into a barrel dovetail slot or into the attached riser fixture whose base is a nominal 5/8” dovetail. Height from base of 5/8” fixture to center of disk (tube) measures about 7/8 inch. From the base of the 3/8” dovetail (integral with tube) to the center of disk measures about 9/16 inch. In other words, the base fixture adds about 5/16 inch to the height of the sight. I presume the 5/8-inch base fixture could be drifted off the sight’s 3/8-inch dovetail, though I have not tried this.
Included are several additional disk inserts (all clear plastic with center hole) and a finely made wire cross-hair insert. This rig was used on a muzzleloading target rifle but could be used on any rifle where the owner is willing to modify. Price with the extra inserts: $45.
