This is at 40 yards holding the the tip of the bottom picket on the 1” targdot. A 6 o'clock hold ought to work fine and the best part is that my 60gr varmint loads are dead on at 100yds. Forgive the 44-40 photo bomb- I had to check POI of some j- word loads....

I was not aware of/have never heard that.

Regs state:

"Legal Means of Taking
Shotgun (conventional or muzzleloading),
rifle (conventional or muzzleloading), handgun,
archery equipment, legal raptors, hand-propelled
missile, air-propelled missile and slingshot."

It does not mention caliber, rimfire or center fire. Is that something that you have seen in print or the opinion of a game warden/ hunter safety instructor. I guess you could hunt squirrels with a 50BMG the way the wording is spelled out.

Can't do that in Pa., either. 22 caliber or smaller, rimfire only, for small game.

We can as well as long as it's not deer season with the exception of the very populated counties around NYC. Q: Can I hunt small game with a rifle in counties where deer hunting with a rifle is prohibited? A: Yes, but if any deer season is open, you can only use a rimfire rifle .22 caliber or smaller or centerfire rifles less than .22 caliber. You may not possess rifles afield on Long Island or Westchester Co. You may not use a rifle or handgun to hunt pheasant, turkey or migratory game birds.

I have an Oberndorf Mauser 420B sporter in 22lr that the chamber was oversized on. It's at MBTCustom getting a TJ's match grade liner put in. I'll be patient, but it's so hard to wait on something cool...


It was already drilled and tapped when I got it.

I'm working my way down. I've killed cattle, deer, pigs, etc. With it. Time for cast in order to eat the " fancy rats".

Well, I'm glad you responded.

I just downloaded the regs and checked. Apparently I am incorrect, and have been for several years.
The way the regs read, any rifle is legal.

When I think of all those wasted years.....

You guys got me curious about Missouri's regs. I always thought rimfire or shotgun were required for squirrel and rabbit. Fact is, it's only during firearm deer season that is required.

I'm ashamed to say that I forgot which generous member here sent those boolits to me. All I know is that they are 58grains, .225", and have aluminum gas checks. Yes, that is 9.2 grains of Unique dipped with a Lee scoop. I haven't chrono'd them but my senses tell me they are between .22 LR and .22 Magnum levels. The range is 40 yards so they are minute of squirrel head I reckon. Our squirrel season never closes and there's no bag limit.

58gr round nose gas check, sounds a lot like Lyman 225462. Very accurate in my 22-250.
