    Opinions of H&R 732 (32 S&W long) ?

Saw one at a LGS today, finish is good, no pitting or corrosion, slight drag ring on cylinder. Left grip (plastic?) has a hairline crack 1” long coming up from butt. I can wiggle the cylinder about 1/16th inch when cocked.
Pretty sure I can have it for $145 - $150.
So is that a good price? Is the cylinder play an issue? What else to check for & what’s your opinion on that model?
    Thanks

When you say wiggle, do you mean the cylinder rotating side to side or sliding front to back?
If rotating side to side, I wouldn’t worry about it. The forcing cone will do its job. If the cylinder is sliding front to back, that’s going get worse. I’d be looking at shimming that down some.

I’ve seen a couple of 732’s in Austin for $250 and $275 recently.
So, price wise you’re probably looking at a bit of a bargain.

I paid 120 + FFL 20$ + 16$ shipping for mine, and love it. So I'd say price is fair.

I had a second in nickle plated that wouldn't shoot as well. So I eventually let my buddy talk me out of it for what I had into it.

If it was me I'd put a deposit down and ask to shoot it. That will tell you what you really want to know.
Also fire one round inside a brown paper bag.

I’ve haven’t heard of firing in a brown paper bag. Can someone enlighten me?
The cylinder rotates slightly side to side.

I'd been looking for a 732 32 S&WL for a while. I found one at Cabella"s in the used guns case. I likely paid a bit more than it was worth, Cabella's always seems high priced on used guns to me. $250 out the door. Gp

If large particles of lead spit out the cylinder gap they will cut the bag. Usually considered bad.

If you can find a Charter Arms Undercoverette .32, get it instead. Or save up for a used Ruger .32 H&R Single Six Magnum. I don’t think the 732 is meant for a lot of shooting but YMMV.
