RRB#5 morning fun

7x57 caliber
I had fun shooting this morning. RRB #5 with 175 gr C /16 gr of 2400
red dot is 3" dia. at 50 yds...the pattern fits within a 2" dia.

the can was set at 75 yds....I hit it 10 out of 10

I was using sticks as my rest.

Hmmmm - what it the caliber, 7MM ?

yes 7x57,,I bought it when I was in High School. The local grocery store had miscellaneous hardware and hunting and fishing tackle. There was a round bin with many of these rifles and I bought two, for $7.00 each. One I gave to Dad. This was before the gun control act of 1968-69.
The only thing I have had to replace was the main spring, and I had a new firing pin made.

I miss those days when surplus stores had barrels of guns for sale cheap! My local army surplus store would even sell guns with broken or missing parts to anyone, regardless of age. Not sure if that was legal even back then, but it was fun! They had a sign on the parts gun barrel that read, "Any gun $4" Had another barrel of working guns that were in a $6 barrel, and they went up from there to a maximum of $12 guns in barrels. After that the nice guns were individually priced.
Costs a lot more to buy plinking fun today, and way more paperwork to keep us all safe!

Have a brand new to me 7x57 RB. Did you have to fire from brass for yours?

For my 7x57 RB to ensure that the headspace was correct I took my 7x57 brass and neck expanded it up to .338 with a tapered neck expanding mandrel, then slowly adjusted my sizing die down until the newly formed "false shoulder" would just allow the block to close. I fire formed them at that length and then neck size only so that I don't push the shoulder back.
