I have been told they have a similar gestational period to rabbits but have much larger litters.

On the average of two times per year with 6 being the average. The strange thing is that they are always born with the same number of males to females....i.e. 6 shotes equal 3 boys and 3 girls.....
When guns are outlawed only criminals and the government will have them and at that time I will see very little difference in either!

We've certainly seen an increase in the southeast. I'm seeing pigs for the first time in areas I would have never thought to look. In the areas where I'm accustomed to seeing pigs, the population seems to have undergone a 2x increase.

I am a farm kid, we didn't farrowed hogs, but I didn't know (or forgot) that oddity. Interesting trivia.

Edit, I just text a friend that has a sow farrowing operation...absolutely NOT true.

Take a kid to the range, you'll both be glad you did.

My good friend, now deceased, hunted them along the red river with everything, from 9mm, 357, 243, 223, & bow but his favorite was a 22 magnum bolt gun I helped him dress many head shot porkers.

The local game biologist said the feral hog is the only wild animal that have have a litter of 10 piglets and 12 will survive to adulthood.

He also says there's 2 kind of landowners in Texas; those that HAVE feral hogs and those WILL HAVE feral hogs.
