Shipping loading dies ?

For you guys that sell your unneeded loading dies , what packaging do you mail them in ? The small flat rate seems to small and the medium is way to big for one set of dies .

I've received RCBS dies in the small flat rate box. Slightly tight fit but worked. Hornady dies in their original box would not fit. I'm not sure about the flat rate padded envelope. It might be too bulgy(?) for them.

I believe the last set of used RCBS dies I bought were shipped in the small box.

2 rcbs green die boxes are just a bit too big. I ended up using the box as packing and went with a padded envelope. Price fell inbetween small and Med flat rates.

It's the weight that usually gets you

I found the small the Box the more likely the PO will Loose it or bang it up. I ship dies in a small Flat rate in a Padded flat rate

A flat rate box may not be your best option. Quite often it is less money to just ship it non-flat rate, and your choice of boxes is bigger.

I like check to see regular cost before I commit to flat rate. There is a flat rate padded mailer that is the same approximate cost as a SFRB but you can stuff more in there.

I usually use the small flat rate box but some die boxes are too big to fit. The tyvec envelopes with some additional tape or a few staples in the flap work ok. The last envelope that I mailed cost the same as the small box.

Great information above flat rate boxes or padded envelopes. Unless shipping a very short distance, generally dies will be heavy enough for flat rate being the way to go.

USPS flat rate padded envelopes are an excellent/affordable way ship lots of items.
I'd bet two die sets will fit in one.

I encourage folks to check shipping cost vs flat rate and see. I've often had dies go for 5.50, a 2.00 savings.

I've done it both ways, depending on the packaging. If it doesn't fit in a small flat rate, I'll find a box (wife usually has a collection from her Amazon exploits) and send it by weight.

I recently bought 2 sets of dies from a member here, he shipped them in a USPS padded flat rate envelope. Arrived safely & no problems.

I have both shipped & received die sets from RCBS & Lyman in their original plastic boxes stuffed in a sfrb. The post office said that if it fits it ships. If the sfrb bulges slightly, no problem.
