    Lyman 452-66

Can yall tell me anything about this mold? I can't seem to find a good picture of what this bullet looks like. Just that it's a 200gr bevel base flat nose. Is that right? Also why is this a 5 digit designation instead of 6 digits?

I have this mold in 4 cavity. A friend had given me a handfull of these bullets to try, and wow did they shoot great. I had been looking for one of these for several years, until I found one for sale on the other cast bullet forum. It was only made for about 2 years in the early 1980's. It is 215 grains, and actually more of a boattail than a bevel base. To this point, it is the most accurate bullet I have found for my Clark Longslide. Mine tends to cast a little on the large side, @ .455. The bullet basically looks like a 452460 without the boattail.

Ya mind telling me what ya got that for? I had looked at that mold but didn't bid on it. I had recently picked up a 452630 four cavity so I passed on the 45266

Being mine drops out at .455, as well as being good for my longslide, it is also perfect unsized, for my S&W 25-2, that has .456 cylinder throats.
