Warm day in Ohio - good day to make ingots

How weird that it is 67 degrees in Ohio in January. Normally it is about 10 degrees. The warm day gave me the opportunity to get some of the WW stash melted down and made into ingots for future use. I have a pic of one I found when they were painting the yellow lines along the road and painted right over the WW. I check every WW I melt first before they go in the pot. If they don't deform and cut through easily with a pair of wire cutters, in the trash it goes. There are alot on zinkers in the trash today.

Wrong place for them. Take them to the nearest scrap yard/recycle. When they buy wheel weights, they do not check what kind they are. They will also take the clips you skim off the top of the melt.
Spell check doesn't work in Chrome, so if something is spelled wrong, it's just a typo that I missed.

I plan on getting together with a buddy soon to have a smelting day. Kind of waiting for a break in the weather to match his days off. Glad to see you having nice weather for yours.

I have a few of those "rescues" that have been painted but most of mine are white. Should add to the smoke nicely!

And yeah, I save the zinc and iron weights to sell. And the clips. I sell mine about once a year and its usually worth the trip. I also save brass thats damaged, corroded or is otherwise unusable.

save the zinc for the fellows on here that are behind enemy lines, they need to make the lead free crap for hunting.

This January weather in the Ohio valley has made for some good smelting days. I'm back at it again today making ingots.
