Hi Dak..
I wouldn't think that a properly fit boolit with a published load of H110 or 2400 would give any leading or ick in the barrel to worry about... sure is a purty peace though....

I will love the Lord with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind.
Here's mine:
Love this gun - it's a Ruger Redhawk with the 7.5" barrel.
I fire full tilt loads all the time. I LOVE shooting full house W296 rounds...

Here is what works for me. 16.6 grs of 2400 and a 429421 250 gr Lyman swc and a std CCI primer. It does 1150fps from a 7 1/2" Ruger. I have never shot that load in a 44 that didn't like it. When I started powder coating boolits, they REALLY like it. You might find some unburned powder in the barrel but 1 or 2 passes with a brush and you're good to go. I run a lightly oiled patch through the cylinders and barrel and that's it.
BTW, that same load clocks an average of 1236 fps from my 9 1/2" Ruger SRH ans shoots into 1 1/2" at 100 yds. I load it for a friend with a 44 mag and it shoots through some pretty big hogs with no sweat.

Like that 29 .
I will own mine till they bury me
DAK, I see that you are in B C Canada. Are you guys up there allowed to carry a handgun while hunting? I should think that handgun hunting in B C would be max fun.

Size your boolits to fit the cylinder throats and you will get great results.
Older M29's run large, up to .433", and some of the newer S&W's 629's run real tight @ .428". I had DOUG here at "Cast Boolits" open up the cylinder throats on my Model 629 which had the overly tight .428" throats.
A cast boolit that is too small of diameter for the cylinder throats, is a recipe for forcing cone leading. Been there, done that!

Thank Y’all for the props and info. It is a newer 29, I got it 5 yrs ago.... I need to fix my profile as we have a home on the TX Gulf Coast also for my work. In BC it is a range only toy sadly but down here it is so refreshing to be treated as an adult and my LGS excels in the import/export department.
I will slug the cyl throats to see where I am at before diving in......
Dak, if you want to, you can order pin gauges and get a really true measurement of your guns throats. According to the Meyer Gage 2019 catalogue, you can buy individual pins for $3.53 each in the "Z" range and I bought .427 through .434 for my 44 spl/mag work. If you have more than 1 44 they are very useful tools. Their phone is 800-243-7087 and they are very friendly to us casters.
