    New-To-Me Mousegun

    .

I recently stumbled across this little gem of a .22LR Interarms Walther TPH micro autoloader w/box, papers & an extra magazine for reasonable money - so I jumped on it, as I had NEVER ran across one F/S locally before.

I've seen cloth bags for revolver extra cylinders before, but never one for the entire gun

Yesterday, I ran it over to my gun club and shot several brands/types of ammo through it - using both magazines.

The hands-down winner for both accuracy (3" groups @ 15yds) & reliability (200 rounds w/o a bobble) was CCI Stingers - of which I happen to have a full brick (500).

    Cool.

I wouldn't bother with a holster for it. It should fit on a key chain.

Thanks for the kind words, folks !

To save the factory box from wear/tear, I'm keeping it in a new home when I'm not carrying it.

If it likes stingers it may like Velocitors as well . Handy little pistol isn't it ?

Couple parts to buy while they are still available are the plastic base for the magazine and the metal part on the inside floor of this plastic base part. Currently New Old Stock parts that are about $8 a piece. They will break as will the grips crack. Cracked grips might not matter much but they are still cheap to get and have a set available.

For a holster contact Ken Null who is getting older so grab him while you can. His holsters are even nicer than the TPH placed inside of it. His pocket holster is beautiful work and he can customize his holsters to fit your desires.

Your extra mag is probably worth about $100+. Nice to get an extra with the pistol.

Some TPH fail to be reliable. There is a smith named Roger Perry in New Hampshire or close (Vermont?) who works on Walthers and knows the TPH if you need help. He is not getting younger. Quality guy and good work.

As you have discovered it is a quality small pistol. All things considered I would rather put a small .32 or .380 or a J Frame in my pocket or on my belt. For all its virtues the TPH remains a 22 (there are some at 25 ACP) and a rimfire, but has the double action ability to pull the trigger again if it fails to go off and recoil is almost absent making a second or third shot quick and easy.

Good catch. Enjoy it. Mine take a little Kentucky Windage to get POI = POA.

It remains an excellent mouse gun and hopefully a TPH owner will never think I should have had something bigger than a 22 or why am I carrying a rimfire.

One more inexpensive suggestion is to purchase a spare recoil spring as they remain available as NOS. You may get attached to this TPH and if you have many years left in you having the parts to keep it running is comforting.

I don't really see a TPH as a belt gun, but check this out for a pocket holster for the TPH http://www.klnullholsters.com/default.htm .

I couldn't find a holster I liked for my mousegun, a Jennings so I made my own IWB.
Making it "backwards" gave a sight track and maximized the available grip area. An open muzzle design would have made it smaller but it's already so small I didn't think it mattered.

I seem to remember those guns were too small to meet the '68 gun laws for imported pistols and were only sold to LEO's at the time.

Because of that, and the fact they were sort of pricey, they're kind of rare.

AFAIK, that's exactly why Interarms imported parts and had the guns assembled here (in the USA).
