    Favorite 458 Winchester Magnum loads

What are some of your favorite 458 Winchester Magnum loads. I just traded for a Remington Safari custom shop 458 and want to start casting and loading for it

Hodgdon's H4895 produces excellent velocities and accuracy with common 400 & 405 gr cast bullets. It can be easily and effectively loaded from mild to wild. I use Hodgdon data for the jacketed 400 gr soft point bullet, and the reduced load instructions (search on "Hodgdon H4895 Reduced Rifle Loads." The full power loads for the jacketed bullet are a bit much for cast projectiles.

Lee 450gn on top of SR4759 gets things done. I push them to measured 1750fps and this is with PCd plain base CBs. See my recent buck in the hunting area on this site. No leading and good accuracy.

460-420. IIRC NOE cut the same or really close version as 462-420. I might have my numbers mixed up. Either one is a top shelf performer. Nice meplat at 415 grains with my alloy being pushed along with some 3031 at trap door levels or just above and it's an accurate go to hunter.

Have someone send the 458 WM data out of the Lyman 3rd Edition Cast Bullet Manual. A friend was loading up the Lee 457-450 or 550 with 18.0 gr of Unique. It was a fun plincker with iron sights.
