I might be able to snag one of these in the not too distant future and I was wondering if anyone here has reloaded boolits for them. They really look cool to me and I would like to get one; be a real kick to shoot one of these in a vintage military rifle match.
It might be kind of pricey, but you go around once..............

Not many of those came back, and IIRC what's being offered today is mostly guns that were never sent abroad, and sold here.

Very cool gun ! It may be pricey, but if you buy it right it will only appreciate in value. I would love an 1895 in 303 Brit., but would settle for any caliber.
I love my 1985 in 30-40 been in my family for almost 121 years

They are good shooters to I can do 4” at 100y with 178fn cast doing 1750fps
I've found that the original (ish) type load of 150 grain bullet over Unique has worked out for me. I use a Lyman #311466 gas check for around 1800fps. Around when the 1895 Winchester went over the Russians had started using a 148gr bullet at around 2100fps. It feeds better than the other moulds I have tried. It would be pretty cool to see that in a military match!

My 50's Lyman manual says for cast bullets use 30-06 data in the Russian case.
I used 200gr RN cast for 30/40 Krag. I got my loads out of a Lyman manual from 40s. The 1895 Win action is best kept under 4500psi I had several original 1895s. 30/40, 30govt06, 7.62 Rus and 303 Brit. They all did better with RN bullets, cast or jacket.
Loaded for one of these many years ago. "Hot" .30-'06 loads extract hard.
Full-charge .303 Brit data with #314299 work fine in the 7.62x54R.

If I am able to acquire one of these, I may start out with the 185 gr. Lee Bullet, probably about 1650-1750 fps.. Most of the targets I shoot at are less than 200 yds. away and the bullet will be passing thru paper, I just target shoot and enjoy the light kick of an accurate cast boolit load.
Easy on me, easy on brass and as accurate as I will need for fun competition................

The Russian 148gr bullet run more like 2800fps.
I'm going to assume you mean 45,000psi, not 4500?
