I would like to do a postal match like this, and others may as well. Please include any ideas you may have for a target or other distance/rule ideas.

Basically the theme is improving practical handgun "field shooting" with cast bullets using hunting power level ammunition.

A sketch of the idea:

The target will be a 6" diameter black circle printed on a standard 8x11 sheet of paper. Anything inside the circle counts. Anything outside it doesn't.

Target will be placed at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards with 6 shots taken at each distance for a total of 24 shots and 24 maximum point score. No more than 30 seconds should elapse between shots. Target should be placed 3 feet from the ground in a field with grass.

Shots at 25 yards are unsupported one or two handed; shots for 50, 75, and 100 yards one can hold the handgun in any safe field position and use natural objects as back rests (like earthen berm, a log or tree, etc). Shooting sticks or any prop for the firearm are prohibited. Artificial objects and other furniture are prohibited.

Ammunition must be a straight walled handgun round 357-452 caliber with a minimum power-factor of 200 at the muzzle loaded with a hand cast lead-alloy bullet.

Firearm must have a barrel length of at least 4 but no more than 8 inches, must have open iron sights, and may not weigh more than three pounds unloaded.

What do you think?
