    Thank you all very much.

With the current hullabaloo in VA I had not really considered it. But I do remember about their old constitution. As I recall, it used to be that if you did not own a firearm, you had to pay a tax.

West Virginia sounds interesting as well. I am asking the SO to look in to them as regards her business.

Thank you all for the information. She and I will talk it over. Right now, she says either New York or W Palm Beach have the clientele she is looking at. And NYC is just Not an option, lol.

So wait, you were engaged to a crazy woman who tried to steal your house, and now you are with a woman whose business is going to dictate that you live in either New York City or Palm Beach Florida?

Have you tried being single and doing what YOU want to do with your life? It truly is liberating.

My dad is in his 70's, Just divorced his third wife, and already has another girlfriend he is spending money on and preparing to marry. It's all very silly looking at it from a distance.

Actually, I got rid of the crazy two years ago. So I have been single all that while. The woman I am currently talking with and I have not yet formalized things.

As for her business dictating location, I am on social security and she is currently making up to 10k per month. As long as it is not against my rights, I am willing to consider places which work for her.

Moving out of state is definitely in my future, no matter what. CA is just to expensive for my income, and the nutty laws are just too much. I keep waiting for them to figure out a way to take all the legal guns away. I know they really really want to.

So I am searching and researching. Trying to do this before I am in desperate need. I try and look ahead, and plan things out. I want to move, not have to bug out.

    Well, shoot.

I just got some info on some of the 1200 new laws that took effect here in CA on Jan 1st. Can we say What The Heck? Reads like a recipe for complete destruction of the state. Not just nonsense gun laws, either.

Water restrictions, free health for all illegals, outlawing independent contractors, massive boost to the minimum wage with increased obligations for employee health care, and rising prices for the same. And that is not even one percent of the laws passed, and they are already predicting the new laws will put between 50% and 85% of all small businesses in the state out of business. And our idiot governor was grinning like, well, like an idiot.

Long and short of it, I will be working on the house so I can sell it, and moving. So I am going to be looking at each recommendation very hard. I have to land somewhere, after all.

VA is going downhill fast with the new dem government. PA is still safe other than near philly or pittsburg. i am south of harrisburg in farm country, and they call PA the oreo cookie of the east. dems on both sides and republicans in the middle telling them both to pound sand

Those are good ideas, all. And the list that Illinois is on is titled "no way in heck" On the same list are New York, California, NJ.

Well, the woman put me in the friend zone, but I still have to get the heck out of here before it collapses. Currently, I should have enough from selling the house to be able to move and buy there.

Think it's best. Cover your own needs and have a place you are comfortable with. Think once you have that the relationships will be easier. Good luck.

It seems many people are moving here (Texas) from California. We could use more conservatives.

Leftism is growing more powerful everywhere, it seems. Just in the past five years since I bought a house in Washington state, the gun laws went from great to horrible.

I thought I would make a stand since I like my house and my small town, but they just announced even more oppressive laws in the past few weeks.

I hate moving. I'm not going to find a house and property of this size and quality in Idaho within 20 miles of work.

What do you do? Stay put and become a criminal just because I like AR-15s and semi-auto handguns with more than 10 rounds? Or move a few miles and give up a place and neighborhood I like?

I have a realtor and her mentor, who stages houses, coming over tomorrow morning. I know the colors on the inside will have to be changed. I am starting to pack up things, and push a couple of projects to completion, as I do not really need to move raw materials.

The liberal scourge is actually the socialist scourge. There has never been a successful socialist country or state.
