    Remington 870 left Hand safety

I've got 3 that I would like to convert, as I am left handed. The only make I can find is Fortmann. Only sold by Midway. No other sources found, and no manufacturers website. I have read that pre-80's guns can just reverse the current safety, but all my guns are later. Anybody know about Fortmann, or any other suggestions? I absolutely will not do business with Midway. Thanks for replies.

No Mossbergs. I have and 870 Police, an 870 Youth, and an 11/87. All take the same safety.

Personally, I much prefer the 870 over other shotgun options. It feels right and points right for me. The trigger reach is long on a mossberg and the stock wrist is built like a polish girls ankles.

dont sweat if some other moron cant look at the little white or red band on the safety button to determine if something is safe or not. set up your gun to work for you.

Williams made Jumbo Head Left hand safety for 870-1100s. I still see a lot of them around sales.

I heard of those, but can't find one. I saw the no name eBay safety, but I'm skeptical. Vang Comp is 10 miles up the road. I'll check with him. Thanks for replies.

I'd notice a left hand safety almost immediately upon picking up a firearm. First thing I check when picking a gun up is loaded and safety status. It's routine for me to do a safety check on any gun I may acquire or inspect for friends or am going to use. I'd expect everyone that's more than your casual gun owner does the same.

You might ask some questions on the safety. Maybe who made it and what type of steel. Might be it's made by the seller and he's a gunsmith and seen the need.

I have a couple left handed safeties on Remingtons and they work well. I don’t remember where I got them, but one does have the oversized button.

This is reversible, according to the comments. https://www.brownells.com/rifle-part....aspx?psize=96

This one looks like it may be reversible. It doesn't say but a phone call would find out.

The safety for the the 760/7600/740/742/7400 is the same as the 870/100 left hand safety

Williams used to make the Big Head safety back in the 1980's / 90's
Uncle Mikes even made some back in the day.

Check with Nu-line Guns as they make them for the Win M12, perhaps they also make the Rem.

Thanks for the leads, all. The Brownells may be the way to go.

I looked at the Brownell's link and the answer was specifically NO to reversing the safety for left-hand. So with that said, anyone have any updated pointers on a left-handed safety for an 870?

If you look at the Wilson video it tells you that it is a right hand safety only. james

I must be nuts then but I remember as a kid turning 870 and760’s into left hand safety by pulling trigger assembly out and reversing the safety.
    Look twice, shoot once.

Well, the comment from a gunsmith says it is reversible. I personally have no idea.

    REMINGTON 870/1100 BIG BUTTON SAFETY

Customer had left hand safety on his 1100 which wasn't reversible. This product is completely reversible and works either way. Great value only a few dollars more than a stock safety.
