    Pure/Foundry Mix

    I have approx 150lbs of pure lead and 55 lbs of foundry-can I mix to achieve Hardball brn-if so what would the mix be???Thanks to all-new at mixing,normally buy HB ingots.

    It you mix the 150 lbs of pure with the 55 lbs of foundry you should have an estimated BHN of 15.4. Hardball is around 14.7 BHN according to the lead alloy calculator.

    When foundry type was significantly less expensive I used to blend 15# scrap lead (mostly pure from flashing) with 5# foundry type and if I recall correctly that makes for almost exactly the same alloy as hardball. 1:1 foundry/pure = Lino 1:1lino/pure = hardball

    Thx,appreciate the responses.I use a 20lb bottom pour pot,from above info and extropolation,I'm going for 1 to 1 foundry and pure lead..I'm loading for 60%suppressed/40%handgun.
