I also have those Little Dandy rotors. Would using a 240 gr SWC hard cast bullets with the 7.2 gr Bullseye load and 16.2 gr #2400 give higher or lower velocities with a 4 inch model 29?

I picked up 1,000 Lazer Cast 240 gr hard cast SWC bullets at a price too good to pass up, and want to get velocities in the 950 fps - 1050 fps range.

That’s the way I like it. I get about 1020 from my M-29 with the 8.5 grain 44 mag load. This load meets 90% of my needs for a 44 Mag and puts less strain on the old gun (and older shooter).

I have been running 7 grains of Unique and a .431 Oregon Trail 240 grain SWC for my go to 44 Magnum loads. I shoot it in my Rossi R92 and get 1,150 fps. It is a very mild load, but very accurate, and I can shoot it all day long. I am too old I reckon to really enjoy getting thumped around.

This thread is quite timely as I received a S&W 69 for Christmas.
I am in the same camp as Larry Gibson.
Years ago I missed out on the S&W 696 44 special. Now, I have, what I feel is the hotrod of the 696, if I choose to put the pedal to the metal.
But, I have a better version of the S&W 696 that will run at the same speed limit as the 44 special.
